Water resource development meeting, Minqin, Gansu
Province, China
Mott MacDonald’s environment team has worked in China for over
20 years. Our first project was a successful assessment of existing
and potential pollution sources in the Fen River basin in Shanxi
Province using a specially developed innovative water quality
computer simulation model for the river system enabling the
prediction of existing pollution impacts on water quality and the
effect of improvements.
We have built on this success by opening a number of offices
throughout China in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzen. We
have carried out a number of environmental studies using our
sophisticated modelling techniques, and developed environmental
management models used extensively by the Ministry of Water
Resources to integrate water resource allocation and pollution
prevention strategies.
Other studies undertaken include:
Whatever the project sector – whether water supply, wastewater,
transportation or energy – both Chinese law and international
funding agencies require that thorough environmental assessments
are carried out for projects with potentially significant impacts.
Mott MacDonald’s staff has extensive experience of environmental
impact assessment gained on recent projects in China and is
familiar with both Chinese national requirements and those of the
major international funding agencies such as the World Bank and
Asian Development Bank.
