Wetland preservation as part of river basin
management, Pripyat, Belarus
While much of our European turnover is for projects in the UK
and Ireland, we have also successfully completed a wide range of
environmental projects in continental Europe.
These projects range from assisting the development of stakeholder
involvement in river basin planning in Eastern Europe to providing
institutional capacity
development for infrastructure programmes for small and medium
towns in Romania. Projects are mostly undertaken using funding from
the European Union, but we have also worked for other international
funding agencies, local public and private sector clients. Our
projects are largely undertaken in collaboration with local
partners, and so we have a well-established network of skilled
professionals throughout the region able to undertake demanding and
challenging tasks.
Example projects include:
- Landfill site supervision and
technical assistance, Bulgaria - implementing a project to
provide contractual, financial and administrative assistance to the
Ministry of Environment and Water to set up six regional landfills
and a waste transfer station
- Improved flood management in
Zakarpatska oblast, Ukraine – a project to develop flood
management skills and capability in Danube tributary rivers
- Transboundary river basin
management projects in Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Macedonia –
projects to improve monitoring systems and river basin management
planning
- Support to the National Coordinating Body in the implementation
of SAMTID (Small and Medium Towns Infrastructure Development)
project, Romania
- Strengthening Capacity in Environmental Projects Development,
DFID funded capacity building project supporting training
institutions to design and run courses in environmental project
preparation targeted at municipalities and water utilities in
Romania and the Baltic States.
