Mott MacDonald first worked in the Americas over 30 years ago.
Since then we have been active in a wide spectrum of environmental
disciplines and for various clients, including local government
departments, international funding agencies and private
companies.
We have a strong portfolio of experience gained on over 100
projects in the region, with assignments in the Caribbean islands
and in South America. These assignments have covered the full range
of advisory, engineering, managerial and consultancy services for
environmental assessment,
groundwater remediation, water
resources, pollution control, and
institutional strengthening.
Specific projects include:
- Sustainable use of
groundwater, development of guidelines for sustainable water
management in semi-arid ribbon valleys of Northeast Brazil, to
enable farmers to understand the potential benefits from water
management and the implications of overuse. Project included
empowering community representatives in the active monitoring and
collective management of water, Brazil.
- Feasibility Studies and Final Designs for Rehabilitation of Drainage and
Irrigation Systems in Selected Areas, preparing feasibility
studies for the rehabilitation and modernisation of drainage,
irrigation and farm access roads in nine coastal areas
(approximately 100,000 acres), Guyana.
- Water privatisation, technical assistance for the
transformation of the Water Department into a water corporation,
Anguilla.
- Consolidation of Water and Wastewater sector Reform and
Modernisation, institutional strengthening expertise. We evaluated
future costs with corresponding economic, social and environmental
evaluations, Dominican Republic.
- Sewerage rehabilitation project, project management advice on
the rehabilitation and replacement of water and wastewater
infrastructure, Trinidad and Tobago.
- Airports Privatisation Scheme, an environmental and social due
diligence study to identify and review environmental, social and
health and safety aspects associated with the construction and
operation of the Airports, Honduras.
- Asset Management System, National Water Commission, assistance
was given in the preparation of a management system including
reviewing their geographic information systems (GIS), Jamaica.
