Environmental planning and impact assessment are core businesses
for us. We maintain centres of excellence in all the technical
specialist areas, such as air, water, soil, noise, socio-economics,
ecology and landscape.
We have also built the expertise and techniques that allow us to
take a holistic view of the impacts of developments, and because
our designers and planners work alongside environmentalists, we
design environmental mitigation and protection into schemes from
the outset.
In all proposed developments, the interface between planning and
environmental issues is critical. Our urban planners and
environmental scientists work closely on planning and zoning
applications, consult with relevant authorities and interested
parties, evaluate site potential and prepare development
briefs.
Mott MacDonald has been responsible for the environmental
assessment of massive projects in recent years, such as oilfield
developments in Pakistan and the Middle East, cable car projects in
Hong Kong and the Crossrail and A3 Hindhead tunnel schemes in the
UK. We have also achieved recognition as a leader in preparing
Strategic Environmental Assessments of the policies and strategies
of local government as well as national government and governmental
agencies.
Our integrated planning and permitting services provide customers
with all that they need to obtain environmental permits for
operation, including planning consents, abstraction and discharge
licences and integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC)
permits. Illustrating our level of expertise, our recent successful
applications for environmental and planning permits from the UK
government and local government for the construction of a new gas
pipeline from the Netherlands to the UK were highly
commended.
