We've produced several Catchment Flood Management
Plans for the Environment Agency (England and Wales)
Mott MacDonald is contributing the Catchment Flood Management
planning - a strategic approach that takes a long term look at the
sustainable management of flooding for people.
The Environment Agency, in partnership with the Department for
Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Welsh Assembly,
is reviewing the existing approach to flood management across
England and Wales. Mott MacDonald is currently contributing to this
review by formulating integrated Catchment Flood Management Plans
(CFMPs) in several areas, designed to develop sustainable flood
defence policies and strategies. These CFMPs take a holistic look
at all sources of flooding within a river basin or catchment,
including flooding brought about through rainfall or tidal events;
and deliver management strategies for the next 50 to 100 years,
taking into account:
- views of all stakeholders (e.g. regulators, local governments,
residents and farmers;
- future pressures on the catchment (e.g. from climate change);
and,
- continuing development pressures (e.g. growing populations, or
land use change).
Mott MacDonald’s vast experience in flood management and risk
assessments means we have the appropriate skills and are ideally
placed to help our clients with CFMPs and other related strategic
water management planning activities .
